Passing of Former Chairman

In the afternoon of July 25, 2018, the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Dermot Southwell, died at his home on Turkey Lane, Roseau.  His passing followed a period of illness during which the Commission failed to meet.  Prior to his passing, the Secretary met with the Chairman deceased on two occasions at his home to review basic matters concerning the running of the Secretariat.

At his passing the following message was prepared and published via local newspapers and to regional sister organizations:

" PASSING OF THE CHAIRMAN OF THE INTEGRITY COMMISSION OF DOMINICA, MR. DERMOT SOUTHWELL"

It is with much sadness and a profound sense of loss that the Dominica Commission marks the passing of Mr. Dermot Southwell, Chairman of the Dominica Integrity Commission.  Mr. Southwell died peacefully at his home in the afternoon of July 25, 2018.  In February 2019, Chairman Southwell would have completed his first three-year term as the head of the Dominica Commission; he was appointed effective February 2016.  Mr. Southwell was a true statesman who brought to the office gentility, principled leadership and graciousness.  The Dominica Commission and the staff of the Secretariat mourn his passing and extend deepest condolences to his widow, children and extended family.
